Postdoctoral Researcher

The position will be embedded in the project “Combinatorial and implicit approaches to deep learning”, which is part of the Priority Programme “Theoretical Foundations of Deep Learning” (SPP 2298) of the German Research Foundation (DFG) www.spp2298.math.uni-muenchen.de.

The ideal candidate should have a strong background in Machine Learning / Deep Learning as well as one or several of the following: Optimization / Combinatorics / Polyhedral geometry / Algebraic geometry.

About the location:

MPI MiS is an international center for pure and applied mathematical research in Leipzig, Germany. The broader scientific environment in Leipzig includes two other Max Planck Institutes (Cognitive Science and Evolutionary Anthropology) as well as the University of Leipzig.

We offer:

Postdoctoral position for 3 years. (TVÖD E13).
No teaching duties, but the possibility to teach an advanced course in our international graduate school.
We provide a scientific environment where you are encouraged to explore new scientific directions and where you will find many partners with whom you can discuss a wide range of scientific ideas.

Deadline: rolling between February 1 and June 15, 2022, until the position is filled (starting date is flexible, preferably before or on July 1, 2022).
