2 Florence Nightingale Fellowships in Statistics, Probability or a related subject at Oxford

The Department of Statistics is recruiting two Florence Nightingale Bicentennial Fellows, in statistics or a related subject. Preference will be given to candidates with research interests in probability or statistical methodology. These are career development positions intended to carry around half the teaching load of an ordinary Oxford faculty position. The fellowships will start on or before 1st October 2022.

The post holders will initiate, pursue and disseminate independent research, sharing responsibility for shaping their research group’s plans and contributing to funding applications if needed. They will teach at undergraduate and/or graduate level and contribute to examinations and supervision in the department.
The successful candidates will hold a relevant PhD/DPhil with post-qualification research experience in the area of Probability, Statistics or a related subject. Alternatively, if appointed at grade 7, the successful applicants are not required to have post-qualification research experience, but will hold or be close to completion of a relevant PhD/DPhil. A strong publication record and sufficient specialist knowledge to develop and manage research projects will be crucial, along with effective teaching and supervision skills.
Please note that the Department of Statistics is also recruiting a Glasstone Research Fellow, and candidates are encouraged to consider applying for multiple roles, if appropriate, to maximise their chances of obtaining one of these competitive fellowships.
