W3-Professorship in Probability and Statistics

The Faculty of Science at Tübingen University invites applications for a

W3-Professorship in Probability and Statistics

at the Department of Mathematics starting as soon as possible.

The successful candidate should have an outstanding, internationally visible research profile and an excellent record of research in the field of probability theory and/or mathematical statistics. The research activities should show perspectives for collaborations with the Department of Mathematics and other departments of the University of Tübingen. Since the professorship will play a major role in the teaching of the mathematical bachelor’s and master’s programs in science and education, the future holder of the position should represent probability and mathematical statistics in teaching on a broad scale.

The willingness to acquire third-party funds and to participate in joint third-party funded projects of the Department of Mathematics and related areas of the University of Tübingen as well as an appropriate participation in the teaching tasks of the Department of Mathematics are expected. Participation in the academic self-administration of the Department of Mathematics and the Faculty of Science is expected.

Required qualifications include a PhD or equivalent degree as well as postdoctoral qualifications and teaching experience equivalent to the requirements of a full professorship.
