Research Technician in Applications of machine learning and heuristic optimization

Basque Center for Applied Mathematics is offering a Research technician position to work in Applications of machine learning and heuristic optimization to real-world problems with Dr Aritz Perez:
1) Formalize a clustering and classification problem to support language teaching decisions.
2) Formalize the multi-objective optimization problem of warehouse management and design a suitable heuristic algorithm to solve it.

Contract: 6 months with possible extension
Requirements:
– Experience programming with Python
– Have obtained a degree in mathematics, computer science or physics within the last 5 years

Skills:
– Ability to present and publish research outcomes in spoken (talks) and written (papers) form.
– Ability to write technical reports
– Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team.
– Fluency in spoken and written Spanish.
– Experience in supervised classification and multiobjective heuristic optimization

The preferred candidate will have:
– Good programming skills in Python.
– Background in machine learning
– Background in heuristic optimizacion
– Background in mathematics/probability/statistics.
– Interest and disposition to work in an interdisciplinary group.
