Research Fellow in Mathematics, UCL

Applications are invited for a full-time Postdoctoral Research Fellow position to work with Prof. Erik Burman, Dr. Timo Betcke and Prof. Simon Arridge on the project “Geometrically unfitted finite element methods for inverse identification of geometries and shape optimization”. The project focuses on open problems in computational methods for shape optimization and identification using nonconforming finite element methods.

The responsibilities of the post will include: carrying out vigorous, high-level research into computational and theoretical aspects of shape optimization using finite element/boundary element methods, more specifically levelset based geometrical description in combination with geometrically unfitted FEM, submitting publications regularly in refereed journals; participating in local seminars and in national and international conferences.
