Research and Teaching Assistant / Ph.D. Position (f/m/d) in Business Analytics and Operations Research

The Chair of Production Management (https://www.bwl.uni-mannheim.de/en/stolletz/) in the Area Operations at the Business School of the University of Mannheim invites applications for a Ph.D. position. The starting date is flexible in 2020. The Chair’s research focuses on the development of methods in Business Analytics and Operations Research, specifically
• Performance analysis of queueing systems,
• Optimization of stochastic systems, or
• Combinatorial or nonlinear optimization
with projects in Industry 4.0, airport operations, automotive production, workforce planning, or management of distribution centers. Some projects are funded by industry partners, the European Union, or the German science foundation (DFG). Beside the work on a research project, the Ph.D. student supports the team in teaching and administration.

The ideal candidate finished her/his studies (or is close to finishing) in Business Analytics, Operations Management, Operations Research, Management Science, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, (Applied) Mathematics or related fields with very good results. Individuals with advanced skills in business analytics, especially in stochastic modeling, or in optimization algorithms, or in artificial intelligence are encouraged to apply. High-potential candidates are expected to have excellent English language skills or excellent German language skills.
