Postdoctoral position in an ERC project at the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw

The research group led by prof. Piotr Nowak at the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, Poland is seeking highly qualified candidates for a 1-year postdoctoral position in the project entitled Rigidity of groups and higher index theory, funded by the European Research Council.

About the project: the project focuses on analytic properties of groups and their applications in index theory and non-commutative geometry. Of particular interest are topics surrounding rigidity in various forms of property (T), group cohomology with coefficients in Banach modules and their relation with non-commutative geometry, K-theory of operator algebras and the Baum-Connes conjecture.

Requirements: A PhD in mathematics is required before starting employment. Expertise in an area closely related to the project will be a significant advantage. Good communication skills in English are expected.
