Postdoc position in in evolution differential equations, Prague, Czechia

The Institute of Mathematics of the Czech Academy of Sciences (IM CAS, Prague) is seeking a researcher for the project “Mathematical theory and numerical analysis for equations of viscous Newtonian compressible fluids” coordinated by professor Šárka Nečasová and funded by the Czech Science Foundation.

We invite applications from candidates who have completed their PhD degree in Mathematics within the last 5 years (or will have completed it before the time of hiring). Applicants should have a good background in the theory of partial differential equations and mathematical analysis of fluid mechanics. Knowledge of the modern theory of partial differential equations, strong and weak solutions, and Sobolev spaces is necessary. Some experience with modeling fluid-structure interaction is welcome.

The successful applicant will be based at the Institute of Mathematics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Prague, and perform mathematical research in the areas of the project. He/she is also expected to take part in activities of the Department of Evolution Differential Equations such as seminars and workshops organized by the group. No teaching is involved.
