Postdoc in Topological Data Analysis at Oxford

We invite applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Topological Data Analysis to work on an exciting new joint project between the University of Oxford and Celgene/Bristol Myers Squibb. The position is full time, fixed-term for two years, and the post-holder will be based here at the Mathematical Institute, working under the supervision of Professor Heather Harrington.

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out research in developing methods for analysing single cell data with Topological Data Analysis. Much of the work will be collaborative, and the post-holder will have the opportunity to work alongside leading researchers in the field at Oxford including Professors Heather Harrington, Helen Byrne and Vidit Nanda, and their colleagues at Celgene/Bristol Myers Squibb. They will write up their results for publication, present papers at conferences and contribute ideas for new research projects, alongside managing their own academic research and administrative activities.

Applicants will have, or be close to completing, a PhD in applied/computational topology, nonlinear algebra, data science or a related discipline. They will possess sufficient specialist knowledge in Topological Data Analysis, alongside experience in computing and working with data, and have excellent communication skills, including the ability to write for publication, present research proposals and results, and represent the research group at meetings. Experience of collaborating with a team is desirable, as is an interest in molecular biology, genetics and related data (e.g. single cell data).
