PhD positions in Mathematical and Computational Statistics

PhD candidates in Mathematical and Computational Statistics (f/m/x)

starting August 1st, 2022, or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is initially for two years with the intention to extend until the end of the PhD.

The successful candidates will join the new research group for Computational Statistics & Data Science of Prof. Nagler and work on topics in high-dimensional statistics and/or machine learning.

Tasks and responsibilities
• Active research at the intersection of mathematical and computational statistics
• Developing and improving software implementations
• Teaching assistance for courses in mathematics and statistics

Requirements
• Strong mathematical background (MSc in mathematics, statistics, or related discipline)
• Keen interest in theoretical and computational aspects of statistics
• Good programming skills in R, Python, or C++
• Excellent spoken and written English
