Florence Nightingale Bicentennial Fellowship (24 months) in Statistics at Oxford

The Department of Statistics at the University of Oxford is recruiting a Florence Nightingale Bicentennial Fellow. The successful candidate will hold a doctorate in the field of bioinformatics, statistics or a related subject and will be an outstanding individual who has the potential to become a leader in their field.

This is a career development position intended to carry around half the teaching load of an ordinary Oxford faculty position. The successful candidate would be expected to take up their role on, or as soon as possible after, 1st October 2022. Start up funding of £3,000 will be available.

The post holder will have the skills and enthusiasm to teach at undergraduate and graduate level within the Department of Statistics, to provide pastoral care to students, and to supervise MSc student projects. They will carry out and publish original research. We particularly encourage candidates working in any of the areas of the Oxford Protein Informatics Group to apply.

The post holder will also provide college teaching, initially at Mansfield College. In the first instance, this will involve delivering three weighted hours of undergraduate tutorial teaching per week at Mansfield during term. The post holder will also be involved in undergraduate admissions. For the years when the appointee is engaged in the academic care of Mansfield students, they will be a member of Mansfield’s Senior Common Room, including free lunch and dinner in College during term, and in vacations (when the College kitchens are open), and a shared teaching room.

If you would like to discuss this post and find out more about joining the academic community in Oxford, please contact Professor Charlotte Deane ( deane@stats.ox.ac.uk). All enquiries will be treated in strict confidence and will not form part of the selection decision.
