Departmental Lecturer in Applied Mathematics

The Mathematical Institute, University of Oxford, proposes to appoint a Departmental Lecturer in Applied Mathematics. The appointment will be for a fixed period of 3 years.

The successful candidate will engage in advanced study and academic research based in the Oxford Centre for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (OCIAM) and/or the Wolfson Centre for Mathematical Biology (WCMB), lecture and teach graduate students and/or undergraduate students and contribute to the teaching, research and academic administration of the department. In particular, they will help oversee the Research Groups interactions with the two master programmes (Oxtord Master in Mathematical Sciences and Msc in Mathematical Modelling and Scientific Computing). They will also be expected to lead independent research projects.

With a doctorate in mathematics or a related discipline, the successful candidate will be expected to have an excellent publication record in accordance with their career status and evidence of the ability to devise and carry out an independent programme of research. They will also demonstrate an aptitude for teaching and an ability to lecture at an appropriate level and in an engaging and stimulating manner, have sufficient specialist knowledge to carry out high-quality research and supervise research projects, together with experience and competence in administration.
