Communications Manager for Cambridge Centre for AI in Medicine (CCAIM) (Fixed Term) in Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics

Salary: Grade 7 – £30,942 p.a. – £40,322 p.a.

This is a wonderful opportunity to take on a pivotal role at the newly established Cambridge Centre for AI in Medicine (CCAIM) at the University of Cambridge. CCAIM (https://ccaim.cam.ac.uk/) is an elite, multidisciplinary centre created to produce cutting-edge machine learning (ML) research to solve complex problems in biomedical science, medical discovery and healthcare delivery. Funded by AstraZeneca and GSK – and with strong research ties to the NHS – CCAIM will also drive the revolution in ML-powered precision medicine.
This is no average centre, dealing with data science or healthcare in isolation. Instead, CCAIM is bridging the gap between these areas – we are pioneers. We have a lot to shout about.
That’s why this is a fantastic opportunity to join the centre as our Communications Manager. Based in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics, you will work with our research team to develop our communications strategy, designing and implementing CCAIM’s key communications, aims and objectives. Having identified opportunities to highlight the research, you will create high-quality written and visual content and materials as well as editorial report. You will also provide comprehensive operational and administrative support to the group, while building strong working relationships across the university.
As Communications Manager, you will position us as thought-leaders on the global stage. So you should be passionate about good communication, energetic and very well organized; have a good degree-level qualification in a science-based subject/Level 6 vocational qualification or equivalent experience; have experience in a broad range of communications disciplines and have communicated complex science to diverse audiences. You will also need excellent planning and organisational skills, writing and editing skills, and the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Besides our research, our reputation will also hinge on a variety of online and in-person events and initiatives that you will help to organise and promote, such as our upcoming seminar series. You will also build our presence online through our social media channels and of course the centre’s website, which is a WordPress site. Experience of social media and website management is therefore essential.
