Call for PhD positions in Mathematics – University of Rome Tor Vergata

PhD of Excellence at Rome Tor Vergata University.

The Department of Mathematics of the University of Rome Tor Vergata has been ranked first in Italy among the
Departements of Mathematics in the most recent Research Assessment Exercises, see for instance

https://www.mat.uniroma2.it/Docs/All6DElenco180Ammessi.pdf

The Department of Mathematics has hence benefited of an extra-funding for the period 2018-2022. These funds
will be largely exploited for additional activities specifically addressed to PhD students, such as
seminars, advanced courses, workshops, visiting professors; there is also specific extra-funding for
students’ travels and scholarships.

Within this five-year Program of Excellence, five PhD positions have been funded for the academic year
2019-2020 with yearly gross salary of 24.500 Euros approximately plus travel allowance.

The deadline for applications is May 13, 2019 at 4 PM.

Details for applications can be found on the PhD School web page at

https://www.mat.uniroma2.it/~dott/pagina2.html

The PhD programme covers all areas of research in Pure and Applied Mathematics, including for instance
Algebraic and Arithmetic Geometry, Number Theory, Complex Analysis and Holomorphic Dynamics, Calculus of
Variations and PDE, Operator Algebras and Quantum Field Theory, Nonlinear Analysis, Celestial Mechanics,
Dynamical Systems, Statistical Physics, Numerical Analysis, Probability and Mathematical Statistics,
Representation Theory and Algebraic Combinatorics. A more detailed presentation of the PhD school, including
the full list of members of the PhD Board, can be found on the PhD School web page.

Our students can also benefit from strong interactions with the very lively mathematical community in Rome;
there is indeed a mutual cooperation agreement with the Mathematics PhD programmes run by Sapienza and Rome
III University.
