Assistant Professorship (with Tenure-Track Option) in a modern field of stochastics

The department of mathematics (at the faculty of mathematics, computer science and physics) at the University of Innsbruck seeks to fill the position of a full-time (40 hours per week) assistant professor as of March 01, 2019. The position is limited to 6 years. However, a tenure track agreement can be offered within the first year of employment. Upon positive evaluation the position is converted into a tenured associate professorship.

MAIN TASKS
The holder of the position is expected to do independent research in a modern field of stochastics (for instance, theory and applications of stochastic processes, mathematical statistics, data science), to acquire third-party funding and to build up a research group.

The holder of the position is expected to prepare and conduct teaching at university level within the study programs of the department of mathematics (in English and German). Participation in the teaching of students in other study programs and faculties is also expected. Moreover, the holder of the position is expected to supervise students.

In addition to duties in research and teaching, the holder of the position is expected to initiate cooperations within the department of mathematics and the university and to take part in academic self-management.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
a) doctoral degree in mathematics or a related field
b) postdoc experience or relevant working experience in this field, teaching experience at university level desirable
c) relevant scientific achievements beyond dissertation/PhD level, in particular independent publication activity
d) research experience in at least one modern field of stochastics (for instance, theory and applications of stochastic processes, mathematical statistics, data science)
e) relevant research success documented via publications in leading international, refereed journals and lectures
at international conferences/workshops
f) experience with third-party funding and with academic self-management
g) experience in the acquisition of third-party funding would be an advantage
h) mobility experience
i) the ability to work in a team and communication skills

SALARY
