Grade 7/8/9: – £33,797 – £59,135 per annum

Open-Ended/Permanent – Full Time

We are seeking to appoint an Assistant/Associate Professor in Social Data Science. The successful applicant will be a core member of the Durham Research Methods Centre; they will also be a member of the appropriate academic department within the Faculty of Social Science and Health (Sociology, Anthropology, or Government & International Affairs), contributing to research and education. As such, applicants must demonstrate research excellence in the field of Social Data Science, Social Analytics or Computational Social Science; they must also have a proven track record of conducting high-quality research aligns with research strengths within the relevant Department (Sociology, Anthropology, or Government & International Affairs).

Candidates must also be able to teach our students to an exceptional standard. The post-holder will be expected to deliver advanced postgraduate modules on various aspects of social/health data science and modelling to underpin programmes within a new suite of Masters Degrees in Data Science (specifically: Social Analytics and Health Data Science). They will also be expected to contribute to core teaching within the relevant academic Department (Sociology, Anthropology, or Government & International Affairs), and to supervise both undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations/research.
