Anna Maria Cherubini

Università del Salento, Lecce (IT)

I am a researcher at the Department of Mathematics and Physics of University of Salento. The topics of my current research are random dynamical systems and critical transitions in complex systems. I am also passionate about the many-faceted world of women in science and trying to do my part to help things change for the better.

I am the coordinator of the EWM newsletter team.

Sema Coskun

University of Kaiserslautern, Kaiserslautern (DE)

I am working as a postdoctoral researcher in financial mathematics group at the University of Kaiserslautern, Germany. My recent research interests cover the modeling of electricity prices and electricity demand particularly in the German intraday market. I have completed my PhD thesis also at the same university in 2017. During my PhD studies, I worked on advanced Monte Carlo techniques for pricing certain financial derivatives in stochastic volatility environments. I enjoy learning new things both in mathematics and in programming. I am really happy to be part of this amazing team.

Ellie Dillon

Aalto University, Helsinki (FI)

I am a doctoral candidate in the Department of Information and Service Management at Aalto University, Finland. My research focuses on developing mathematical models to support decision making in public health care delivery. Prior to my PhD and moving to Finland, I studied mathematics and operations research in the UK before working as a research assistant at the University of Melbourne’s School of Population and Global Health. I am committed to gender equity and uplifting women, and the EWM encourages, supports, and gives visibility to women in their mathematical careers – so I am excited to be a part of the editorial team.

Houry Melkonian

University of Exeter, Penryn Campus, UK

I am a lecturer in mathematics at the University of Exeter since June 2018 and an Associate Fellow of UK Higher Education Academy. I am research active in the areas of harmonic analysis and spaces of analytic functions. I obtained my PhD from Heriot-Watt University (HWU) in Dec 2017 which was about “Bases Properties of Sequences of Dilated Periodic Functions in Banach and Hilbert Spaces”. I am also leading a current research about the interaction between mathematics and art and how learning and teaching mathematics can be reimagined through art at primary school levels. Prior to my current employment, I worked as an associate lecturer at the Edinburgh International College (EIC) of Napier University; an approved exam marker at the Department of Mathematics of HWU (Edinburgh, Dubai and China); an academic teacher in Mathematics at the International Study Centre of the University of Strathclyde; and as a curriculum and a VLE developer in Mathematics at the International Study Centre of Durham University.
Writing articles is my passion, and to be part of such a motivated and supportive editorial team will help my imagination flourish even further.

Olga Kuznetsova

Aalto University, Helsinki (FI)

I am a Master’s student and my research is in coding theory and combinatorics. My plan is to start a PhD in algebraic statistics in the near future. Before mathematics, I spent several years in management consulting and start-ups and completed a degree at Helsinki School of Economics.  In my opinion, the EWM plays an important role in supporting female mathematicians and I am happy that my background is useful for the organization. In addition to being part of this (absolutely awesome!) team, I also manage website development and help with marketing.
