Ph.D. position at the University of Paderborn to work with Martin Ulirsch.

I would like to strongly encourage applicants, who expect to obtain a master’s degree in mathematics with a background in algebraic geometry and/or combinatorics in the near future, to apply. Previous knowledge in combinatorial algebraic geometry is an advantage. Knowledge of the German language is not necessary. However, I expect a willingness to learn the basics after some time, since the position comes with a teaching requirement of 3 hours per week per semester and this will make your job easier on the long run.

The successful applicant can start their position on July 1, 2025, or later. The initial contract will be for three years, but an extension for up to two further years (given sufficient progress) is possible. The position will be renumerated according to pay scale group 13 TV-L 0.75% (which amounts to approximately 2300 Euro per month after all deductions) and includes health insurance, retirement benefits, and more.
