Frances Kirwan has been made `Dame', the female equivalent of `Sir'. More precisely, in the 2014 New Year's UK Honours sha was appointed `Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire' (DBE) for `services to mathematics', see http://www.maths.ox.ac.uk/node/24004.
